Potential Effect of a Fluctuating Magnetic Field
on the Human Mind and Will
In Naked Science: Earth's Invisible Shield, Prof. Jeremy Bloxham, Harvard University, says that if we turned off the magnetic field today, it would disappear in about 15,000 years. However, at the rate our magnetosphere has deteriorated in the last 150 years, it would disappear ten times faster than expected -- about 1,500 years. In the same documentary, Dr. Mimi Hill, Liverpool University, explains that minerals in clay pots retain the magnetism from the time the pot was fired. Measuring an artifact from the late 17th century, she reports, "The magnetic field strength was stronger by about 10%."
A weakened magnetic field can allow energy from our solar system to penetrate our atmosphere, most notably solar winds carrying dangerous radiation. Scenarios related to 2012 suggest that the energy imparted by a coronal mass ejection (CME) could cause earth's magnetic polarity to reverse, and that the stress from that reversal could cause the devastation portrayed in the cinematic release entitled, 2012.
Decaying since the time of Christ
There is evidence that Earth's magnetic field was at its highest peak since the time of the flood during the time that Christ was on the earth. Two thousand years is the general timeline given by most scientists observing the phenomenon, and while scientists making these calculations do not connect them to any part of the teachings of the Holy Bible, the times line up nonetheless. D. Russel Humphreys uses this correlation in his young earth teachings, specifically in the article, Earth's Magnetic Field is Young. This timing of the field's fluctuations is not mere coincidence.
Magnetics and the human mind and will
There is something else that might result from a weakened magnetic field. Something more subtle than a CME, but just as dangerous.
According to the writings of Gregg Braden, magnetics can influence our minds and wills. In the anthology, The Mystery of 2012: Predictions, Prophecies, and Possibilities, he lays out his theory. First, he explains that a countour map was drawn showing the strength of magnetic lines over the earth. He continues writing that varying magnetic field strength impacts those living in these areas of greater or weaker magnetic field strength in regard to their openness to change or innovation. He points out that a zero magnetic line runs from the Suez Canal into Israel. Another runs parallel to America's west coast. These are areas historically more open to change and innovation, though the basis and ways of achieving that change and innovation may differ. He contrasts these regions with zero lines to areas with extremely high magnetism (such as central Russia), which he contends, "cling to tradition and embrace change slowly."
What this could mean
The ideas on the effects of magnetism on the human will and the timing of the magnetic field strength's last high point come together as a shadow of evidence that the earth is on a particular path over the last two thousand years. Any assault on our magnetic field from a solar attack could leave humans suddenly and significantly less capable of discerning and resisting deception and danger than we are today. Many signs point to such a coordination of solar system events and earth changes that would leave us vulnerable. The timing of these signs appears to point to the year 2012.
And that, I think, is no coincidence.
For the follower and seeker of Truth
Those who understand the Word of God expect to see tribulation in the days preceding our Lord's return to the earth. The Revelation tells us that the dragon, being Satan, and his minions, will persecute those who are Christ's with a desperation not before seen, "because he knows his time is short." We expect being unable to buy and sell without a mark that those who belong to Truth cannot take, meaning we may be homeless, hungry, and otherwise in need. We expect being taken into captivity. We expect to be slain by the sword, for His Name's sake. Do we expect to be pursued with physiological and psychological arrows as well? We should.
Christians who know the Word and have walked in the Way for many years sometimes think that we will always have an obvious choice placed before us and be in our current state of awareness. This may not be true. In the years of the great tribulation and deception, we could have wild fluctuations in our ability to judge and understand. We may not realize the influence we are under. We may feel totally normal. When our beliefs begin to change, we may think that we have come into a new wisdom that was previously hidden from us due to our own misunderstanding. The choice offered may have subtle differences, or a reasonable explanation of the differences, between it and Truth.
We must be prepared to stand. The advice that follows is not new, but it is timeless, and timely:
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. -- Ephesians 6:10-18
Note that the intend is to stand, and the call is to remain alert, praying at all times in the Spirit. This putting on of the armor of God is not something we do once and for all. It is a continuous taking up and putting on of the defensive and offensive weaponry our Father in heaven has provided for the battle we face each and every day.
Also, notice that the author twice emphasizes that we are to put on the whole armor of God. Do you know the myth of Achilles? His mother dipped him in the river Styx to make him immortal. She held him by his heel, dipping all of him that she could without letting go, but the water of the river could not reach his skin where her fingers held tight. A very small spot on the body was left unprotected. It was not an area one would expect to be vulnerable. It was not a spot likely to be chosen by an enemy as a target in battle. Yet, this very small vulnerability would be his downfall.
If we fail to take up the whole armor of God, leaving any part of our preparations incomplete, the arrow of the enemy of our soul will find that unprotected piece of us as surely as Paris' arrow is fabled to have been guided by Apollo to Achilles' heel. This spiritual preparation is necessary today, in our nice, normal lives. It will be a thousand times a thousand times more vital to our survival in the days soon upon us.
Ephesians 6:11 tells us to prepare to be able to stand firm against the wiles or schemes of the enemy. The father of lies does not fight fairly. He lies even to those he recruits to assist in his deceptions. We must know his schemes and tricks, being able to tear them apart in the Light of Truth. We must be armored, armed, and equipped if we are to stand firm and teach others.
There is much to be gleaned from the little Book of Jude.
