Is the 2012 Galactic Alignment in the Holy Bible?

According to how we measure time, it occurs every 26,000 years. Many researchers say that on December 21, 2012, it will happen again. "It" is the galactic alignment. Our solar system will sit on the galactic horizon, and our sun will appear to be standing directly over the pitch-black center of the galaxy.

The stars and planets in our galaxy are not there by chance. God set them into motion to serve as indicators of times and seasons, and as signs (Genesis 1:14). These signs tell His story, declare His glory, as we read in Psalm 19:1-4a:

The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.

Since the Holy Bible is written to men on earth, it would be the stars and planets visible to the earth that tell the story. The most glorious story of God is His redemption of fallen man. The passage above tells us that we can read this in the stars.

Continuing with the second half of verse 4, we read:

In them He has placed a tent for the sun,
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;
It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
Its rising is from one end of the heavens,
And its circuit to the other end of them;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Is this course that way of the sun that ends with the galactic alignment? Will this be the sign in the stars that we have come to the end of the story?

The sun is compared to a bridegroom. Christ Jesus, the Redeemer of mankind, is the Light of the world as surely as the sun in the sky lights our earth (John 8:12), and He is the Bridegroom waiting to take the redeemed church as His bride (Revelation 19:7). Surely this symbolism means something in the psalm.

There is interesting background relating to this passage. For many years, scoffers pointed at this text as evidence the Holy Bible was incorrect. The Sun is solitary and the Earth is in orbit around it. Everyone knew this. Skeptics were quite confident that Psalm 19 contained a huge error. Surely God would know that the sun stands still, therefore this passage proved the Bible could not be the infallible Word of God.

Then, modern telescopes were developed, and something new was learned. The Sun is on a course around the Milky Way galaxy. The Psalmist was actually millenia ahead of his time.

Maybe this discovery was saved for us to understand in this day. The Sun is certainly on a set course. What could it mean if the sun is truly standing between Earth and the center of our galaxy at 11:11 A.M. UT on December 21, 2012?

The center of our galaxy is dark. It looks vacant and cold from our perspective. Far from empty, this dark rift is home to a black hole, a term scientists have coined for a phenomenon that has such dense mass that it consumes anything coming near. Not even light can escape its voracious appetite.

If this symbolism were to hold together, we would see the Son of God standing powerfully and perfectly between the earth and its people and a phenomenon that is known to be the most destructive force in the universe. The inescapable gravity of the black hole is a symbol of the enemy of all Truth, the deceiver that seeks to trick and entrap humanity. The only power that can save us from its grasp is the Son -- the Bridegroom coming for His bride.

The movement of our solar system's star into this place at this time could be a sign that the climax of the ages is near. The black hole in the center of the galaxy will be aimed squarely at the earth, just as the enemy of Truth will be focused squarely on humanity, and particularly the bride, in the times immediately before the Bridegroom returns. The sun over the blackness is a reminder that the Bridgroom is always standing between the usurper and the bride. He will never abandon her and will do anything to preserve and protect her. He already has -- He laid down His life for hers.

The story in the stars is not the story of the serpent. Much talk about 2012 and the galactic alignment centers on the Mayan calendar and serpents. Recall the ouroboros (snake eating its tail) in the stars and the return of Quetzlcoatl (the name means, 'plumed serpent') predicted for the time the ouroboros appears. This would make one think the serpent is the teller of the tale, but that version of the story is a lie. The serpent cannot create. He can only counterfeit and corrupt.

It is The Most High God who has created the stars and the heavens, and it is His story written there. It may be time to get a little bit excited over it.

May God open our eyes, and the cry of our hearts continually be the conclusion of the Psalm:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
