The End Is Near!
When we see someone holding a sign in a cartoon or movie with the phrase, "The End Is Near," we scoff and laugh. Some people do not believe it will happen, so the laughter is genuine ridicule. Others believe it will happen but do not want to see it in their lifetimes, so it is a nervous laughter that betrays their fears.
Makes one wonder if those who believe yet are troubled by the possibility that this "end of days" is near have ever read what the prophecies say is ending.
What is it we are coming to the end of in those days? What do we have now that we will not have then?
Here is the short list of what is coming to an end:
- Sin, sorrow, pain, and death.
- Hunger, thirst and all unmet needs.
- Lying, murdering, stealing, and betrayal.
Is this contrary to our best interests? No! Many people are working to eradicate these ills from society today. What, then, is the problem with seeing signs of this end approaching in the next several years? Is it the time of testing that comes first? Surely the enlightened mind (and more so, the redeemed soul) can see that it is but a short time of sorrow, then joy comes in the morning.
So, what is the problem? Why do people panic at the thought of the end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI)? TWAWKI is not a happy place for many people living it today, but what comes after TEOTWAWKI looks pretty good for everyone there.
Who, today, would not run out to battle, sword brandished, willing to fight even unto death, if told their children and grandchildren would never know hunger or pain or sorrow ever again, generation after generation after generation, because of their courage?
Not saying anyone should rush things (as if we could if we wanted) but when it happens, it will not be all that bad. So calm down and prepare for the ride of your life over the next decade or two. What awaits us at the end of it all is absolutely glorious!
